However, anyone who reads knows, it can quickly become an expensive hobby. Luckily, there are tons of resources to help you do the thing you love without breaking the bank. Here are five ways you can indulge in a good book without spending money.
1. Project Gutenberg
Project Gutenberg is an online database of eBooks. They collect and make available digital copies of public domain books and cultural works. This is a great option for people who enjoy reading classics.

2. Online Libraries
Online libraries are a great way to read books without spending money. Websites such as Libby offer access to an online database of books provided by your local library. To access these books you need a library card. Another option is Open Library, which is free and available to everyone. These are awesome because the books can be read on your phone or kindle. However, there are limits on how many books you can borrow and the length of time you can keep them.

3. Become a Reviewer
Authors and publishers often offer digital copies of books for free in exchange for honest reviews. These books are given out before the publication dates in the hopes of getting good ratings and peaking reader interest. They are often referred to as ARCs (advanced reader copies) and DRCs (digital review copies). The best part is you don’t have that in most cases you don’t have to be a big influencer to receive these copies. You can apply for copies of these books at websites such as Netgalley and Edelweiss.

4. Follow Indie Authors on Social Media
Tons of popular authors self publish their books. In order to gain traction on their series they will occasionally offer digital copies of the first book or two for free. They announce these on social media and will tell you where it’s available (usually Amazon). Authors also often come together to do huge giveaways of their books.

Sign up for BookBub to find awesome books for free. When you sign up they will ask you about your favorite genres and booksellers. They will send you a daily email with great deals on books that may interest you. You can also check their website to find free books.
