Let's be book besties!

This is the year of DNFing books that I am not enj This is the year of DNFing books that I am not enjoying.

I have pushed through so many books out of curiosity or because I spent money on them and don't want it to be a waste.

Borrowing from the library and using Kindle Unlimited has taken away the guilt of not finishing books.

Some of these were probably just bad timing.

What do you think? Should I give these a second chance?

What's a book you wish you had DNF'd?

Underrated book series recommendation. The War o Underrated book series recommendation.

The War of Lost Hearts by Carissa Broadbent is one of my favorite series.

One of those series I wish I could erase from my brain and read again for the first time.

I wouldn't say this is a romantasy, but it is definitely a fantasy with romance.

It's heartbreaking and emotionally impactful.

And honestly, Maxantarius is one of the most underrated MMCs.

Who wouldn't want to be called "breathtakingly functional"?

It is heavier on the politics (especially book 2), so if you don't like books like that- this may not be the series for you.

What is a series you think is underrated?
My five star reads of 2026. So far. I never sha My five star reads of 2026.

So far.

I never share my star ratings for books because I think they are so different for everyone that they almost become insignificant.

But I wanted to share with you the fantasy and sci-fi books I've read this year that are basically perfect.

Honestly, some of these were absolutely devastating.

And no, I'm not sorry about bringing up Red Rising again.

QOTD: What are some of your five star reads?

Red Rising by Pierce Brown
Sword of Kaigen and Blood Over Bright Haven by ML Wang
The Poet Empress by Shen Tao
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
My Random Bookish Thoughts. I am fully aware tha My Random Bookish Thoughts.

I am fully aware that these opinions are all-over the place.

They were originally hot-takes, but quickly became whatever random opinion I felt like sharing.

In no particular order of course.

What is a bookish opinion of yours?
My Last, Current, and Next Read 2026 has been my My Last, Current, and Next Read

2026 has been my best reading year ever.

Not in quantity I've only finished 13 ebooks and even listened to a few audiobooks.

But every single book I've read has been absolutely amazing. (To be fair I've dnf'd around 5 books).

That ML Wang book is why I subscribe to newsletters friends. I was sitting here minding my own business wondering when my new favorite author was going to have something new when- BAM!

She just casually sends it out in her newsletter!

And of course, if we've been friends for a while, you may know I love LJ Andrews and have been desperately waiting to go back to The Ever. I haven't read a romantasy book since January and I am loving coming back to the genre 🥰.

What are you reading besties?

Last- Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

Current- The Stolen Crown by @authorljandrews

Next- Destiny's Edge by ML Wang
I asked you guys what to read next and you overwhe I asked you guys what to read next and you overwhelmingly said Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.

You did not let me down.

The longer I sit with this story, the more I like it.

The friendship in Project Hail Mary was the star of the show for me. It was so pure and entertaining. Rocky may be one if my favorite characters ever.

I really appreciated the humor. It made me laugh so hard at times.

At about the halfway point I really wanted to see why everyone talks about the audiobook and absolutely loved it. It elevated the story so much!

I was worried about the science being too complicated in this novel. And there was definitely a lot of scientific explanation and occasionally that was a little boring.

I honestly didn't think I would like the end of the story, but I couldn't have imagined it any other way.

Overall I really loved this book and definitely get the hype. Cannot wait to see the movie!

Thanks for the recommendation friends ♥️♥️♥️
There are a ton of books that have been sitting on There are a ton of books that have been sitting on my TBR for a long time for no reason other than I am intimidated to start them.

Maybe you can convince me to finally start some of these books?
