Let's be book besties!

I finished Iron Gold by Pierce Brown. If you don I finished Iron Gold by Pierce Brown.

If you don't know already, the series is broken down into two parts. The first three books are the original trilogy and the fourth book (this one) starts a new story arc.

First off, I absolutely loved Iron Gold. But I did struggle with getting invested in the story. I wasn't fully engrossed by the story until about halfway through. I think this was due to a few things. 1. The high of coming from Morning Star- which was an epic conclusion to the original trilogy and my favorite so far in the series. 2. The tonal change of the story. This was a huge shift from what we were used to from these books. 3. The multiple povs. I loved them, but it took me a while to care about the new characters. Or want to know what was happening with them.

Once I got into the story though it was so much fun! Or, as much fun as constant misery can be in a story. The writing and story telling are superb. The emotional damage is real. And I thought it was interesting to see this world from different perspectives. Previously, we've been at the head of a rebellion with Darrow, and I never really thought about regular life in the solar system.

If you want a happy-ish ending you could definitely stop at Morning Star and feel complete. Or you can continue the series and experience more heartache.

I cannot wait to read more of the series and cannot recommend them highly enough.

'Lo Howlers! Welcome to my Red Rising fan page wh 'Lo Howlers!

Welcome to my Red Rising fan page where I apparently talk about Red Rising and nothing else anymore.

When you find a new favorite book series it becomes your entire personality too, right?

I haven't bought a physical book for myself in over a decade. I know, crazy.

But I saw this Red Rising Deluxe Edition and I could not stop thinking about it. Why is it so beautiful?

In case you need more convincing to read Red Rising,

"I was forged in the bowels of this hard world. Sharpened by hate. Strengthened by love... None of them will survive."

Do you read your beautiful books?
What am I reading Tuesday? Because why wait until What am I reading Tuesday? Because why wait until Wednesday for alliteration.

Social media has been feeling a little draining this week, so I haven't been very active. But, I'm still here 🥰.

It's very unusual for me to be reading more than one story at once.

Current read: Iron Gold by Pierce Brown. This is my main focus and what I consider my true current read. It's taken a while, but I am finally getting into book 4 and OH. MY. GOD.

Currently Listening: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes by Suzanne Collins. Some of you already know that I am just not an audiobook person. They take so much mental concentration for me and can feel quite exhausting. But I am determined to keep trying to finish this audiobook. I think I've been listening to it since September?

But my favorite current read is the one my oldest son is reading to me. (He's 7). We actually started reading Harry Potter together earlier this year, but because of life we had to set it to the side for a bit. It is the most amazing feeling to share something I love so much with him and to see him loving it too. He is doing a freaking fantastic job reading it and I am just so incredibly proud. He didn't want to put it down when we got to the troll đź’•.

QOTD: what are you reading? Do you like reading more than one book at once or do you also find this overwhelming?

Scavenger Hunt My friend @crystalclearreads chall Scavenger Hunt

My friend @crystalclearreads challenged me to a scavenger hunt and I did it to the best of my abilities.

This was pretty fun. I was able to include some old favorites that I usually don't post about on here.

The book with an animal in its title is a bit of a stretch, but I am choosing to count a phoenix as an animal. Mythical creatures count as animals right?

And of course I had to include my current read- Iron Gold. Which is a book with a color in the title.

Book with a color in the title: Iron Gold

Book with an animal in the title: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Book with a title that is one word: Inkheart

A book with a setting in the title: Wuthering Heights

A book with a name in the title: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

A book with less than 300 pages: Skipping Christmas

A book with a number in the title: Two Twisted Crowns
Throne of Glass is one of my favorite series if al Throne of Glass is one of my favorite series if all-time.

Which is crazy because I almost didn't even finish the first book.

If you loved TOG for it's plot-driven storyline with a subplot if romance, I think you should check out these other series.

And yes, I snuck in my newest hyperfixation, Red Rising, and I'm not sorry about it.

Red Rising does have romance by the way....

I promise, the rest of the books are romantic fantasies though.

I'm a little late, but thank you so much for the g I'm a little late, but thank you so much for the gifted paperback copy of Broken Souls and Bones @authorljandrews and @ljandrews.shop.

It's just as beautiful as the hardback, but oh so floppy.

If you are a paperback dark fantasy reader definitely check out this viking- inspired world with kind of gory magic and lots of twists and turns đź–¤

The final book of the duology comes out in just a few months 🥰.

Popular booktok/ bookstagram books I'm excited to Popular booktok/ bookstagram books I'm excited to read.

Last time, I mentioned popular books I had no plans of reading. But there are obviously so many popular books I am excited to read.

I've been reading a lot of romantasy the last few years, but reading Red Rising has definitely pushed my reading into a new direction for the moment.

What do you think? Have you read any of these books?

QOTD: What is a book/series you are excited to read?

Books I'm excited to read on my never-ending TBR:
The Red Rising Saga by Pierce Brown
The Shadow of the Gods and Malice by John Gwynne
The Sword of Kaigen and Blood Over Bright Haven by ML Wang
The Will of the Many by James Islington
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler
The Fifth Season by NK Jemisin
The Raven Scholar by Antonia Hodgson
Jade City by Fonda Lee
Popular booktok/ bookstagram books I won't be read Popular booktok/ bookstagram books I won't be reading.

I usually try to keep my page a positive place.

But I'm feeling feisty today.

So here are 7-ish books I have no plans of reading.

Can my opinion change? Absolutely! But, as of right now, I don't see myself ever reading any of these books.

What do you think? Should I give some of these books a chance?

QOTD: What is a book/series you refuse to read?
