Current Buddy Reads 💕💕 But they are with my sons. Current Buddy Reads 💕💕

But they are with my sons.

Raising little readers. Hopefully 🤞.

I've mentioned before that my oldest son is reading Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone to me. He's doing an amazing job. It's been a surreal experience to watch his love for and confidence in reading grow.

My youngest is just starting to learn to read, but loves dragons and asked me to read How to Train Your Dragon to him instead of his regular picture books at bedtime.

They were both very confused by how different it is from the movie, but are loving it. I was confused too! I've actually never read How to Train Your Dragon before.

And while I am not an audiobook listener, they have also been listening to Charlie and the Chocolate factory. Which I also found surprising.

What are some books you are/ want to share with the littles in your life?

What was the book that made you love reading?

I don't think it's a surprise that Harry Potter solidified my love for books. 💕

Oh and if you're still here, I didn't know what song to choose, so please enjoy my youngest son's favorite song.

My poor, poor mother. Her books always seem to r My poor, poor mother.

Her books always seem to rearrange themselves 🤔.

No matter how many times I fix them, they always switch back.

Edit- it started as a joke (kind of), but I just realized her books were legitimately mixed up. Crown of Mignight is in the wrong place. I suppose I really did help 🤣

🖤🖤🖤Bookish Mail 🖤🖤 I won a super cool giveaway f 🖤🖤🖤Bookish Mail 🖤🖤

I won a super cool giveaway from LJ Andrews' store. And was surprised by how quickly it showed up.

Everything was The Mist Thief/ Eastern Kingdom themed and I love it! And I can now smell like my favorite book boyfriends from her world 🤣.

I'm really excited about my new sticker. That's Skadi and Jonas. They have an arranged marriage. She makes things vanish and he can torture you with your fears.

If you haven't read it already, The Mist Thief by LJ Andrews is the third book in The Ever Seas series, but is an interconnected standalone.

Thank you @ljandrews.shop!!

Which power would you rather have?
Female book characters I would want to be friends Female book characters I would want to be friends with in real life.

Fantasy/Sci-fi edition- because that's all I read.

Obviously, these are strong, powerful, bad-ass women. And because it's so obvious I'm going to bypass all of that and discuss completely normal (maybe even boring compared to the things they do in their books) reasons why I would want to be friends with then in real life.

Question: what book character would you want to be friends with in the real world?

I finished Iron Gold by Pierce Brown. If you don I finished Iron Gold by Pierce Brown.

If you don't know already, the series is broken down into two parts. The first three books are the original trilogy and the fourth book (this one) starts a new story arc.

First off, I absolutely loved Iron Gold. But I did struggle with getting invested in the story. I wasn't fully engrossed by the story until about halfway through. I think this was due to a few things. 1. The high of coming from Morning Star- which was an epic conclusion to the original trilogy and my favorite so far in the series. 2. The tonal change of the story. This was a huge shift from what we were used to from these books. 3. The multiple povs. I loved them, but it took me a while to care about the new characters. Or want to know what was happening with them.

Once I got into the story though it was so much fun! Or, as much fun as constant misery can be in a story. The writing and story telling are superb. The emotional damage is real. And I thought it was interesting to see this world from different perspectives. Previously, we've been at the head of a rebellion with Darrow, and I never really thought about regular life in the solar system.

If you want a happy-ish ending you could definitely stop at Morning Star and feel complete. Or you can continue the series and experience more heartache.

I cannot wait to read more of the series and cannot recommend them highly enough.

'Lo Howlers! Welcome to my Red Rising fan page wh 'Lo Howlers!

Welcome to my Red Rising fan page where I apparently talk about Red Rising and nothing else anymore.

When you find a new favorite book series it becomes your entire personality too, right?

I haven't bought a physical book for myself in over a decade. I know, crazy.

But I saw this Red Rising Deluxe Edition and I could not stop thinking about it. Why is it so beautiful?

In case you need more convincing to read Red Rising,

"I was forged in the bowels of this hard world. Sharpened by hate. Strengthened by love... None of them will survive."

Do you read your beautiful books?
What am I reading Tuesday? Because why wait until What am I reading Tuesday? Because why wait until Wednesday for alliteration.

Social media has been feeling a little draining this week, so I haven't been very active. But, I'm still here 🥰.

It's very unusual for me to be reading more than one story at once.

Current read: Iron Gold by Pierce Brown. This is my main focus and what I consider my true current read. It's taken a while, but I am finally getting into book 4 and OH. MY. GOD.

Currently Listening: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes by Suzanne Collins. Some of you already know that I am just not an audiobook person. They take so much mental concentration for me and can feel quite exhausting. But I am determined to keep trying to finish this audiobook. I think I've been listening to it since September?

But my favorite current read is the one my oldest son is reading to me. (He's 7). We actually started reading Harry Potter together earlier this year, but because of life we had to set it to the side for a bit. It is the most amazing feeling to share something I love so much with him and to see him loving it too. He is doing a freaking fantastic job reading it and I am just so incredibly proud. He didn't want to put it down when we got to the troll 💕.

QOTD: what are you reading? Do you like reading more than one book at once or do you also find this overwhelming?
