1. Grandpa and Jake by Julie Fortenberry
In this beautifully illustrated and sweet story, Grandpa is caring for his grandson Jake. Suddenly, Grandpa insists they turn off the T.V. and go somewhere he enjoyed going with his own grandpa when he was young. Jake spends the walk guessing exciting places they may be going. Finally, they end up at the library, filled with books that can take them anywhere
2. It’s Not Easy Being a Bunny by Marilyn Sadler
This is an older story that I enjoyed reading very much when I was a child. It is filled with interesting illustrations and easy and repetitive language for young readers. One day P.J. Funnybunny decides he doesn’t like being a bunny. He eats too many carrots, has too many brothers and sisters and his ears are too big. Does he want to be a bear? A bird? Journey with P.J. as he tries to find a place he belongs.
3. Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin
Dragons love tacos. And parties. And especially taco parties. But watch out! Dragons can’t stand spicy salsa. Discover what happens when you accidentally give dragons spicy taco toppings. My kids love reading this fun story over and over again.
4. Spend It! by Cinders McLeod
Sonny is very excited. There are so many things he wants! A pogo stick! A toy rocket ship! A bouncy castle! He can’t wait to spend his allowance on everything he wants. Until he learns how expensive things are… Learn the value of a dollar (or a carrot) with this exciting story.
5. Birds of a Feather by Sita Singh
Enjoy this heartwarming story about self-acceptance. When Mo was young he loved playing with the other peacocks. As they grew older Mo turned white while the others turned bright and colorful. Mo is self-conscious about being different until he realizes that his differences make him special.
