Book Recommendations for ACOTAR Fans

If you’ve finished A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) and have been left with a terrible book hangover, you are not alone. The next best option is to read Sarah J Maas’ other series. Throne of Glass is an eight-part epic fantasy that focuses more on plot than romance. You can buy it in a bundle for a reduced price on Kindle. Crescent City is an urban fantasy that currently has three books. Personally, I haven’t gotten around to reading Crescent City yet, but it is recommended to read it before the next ACOTAR book is released.

If you have already read Maas’ other work, or maybe you don’t find those as appealing, there are tons of other romantic fantasy books that are available. Here is a list of five books to help you move out of your ACOTAR reading slump.

Quicksilver by Callie Hart

Available on Kindle Unlimited.

Quicksilver is the first book The Fae and Alchemy Series. It is a planned three part series with possible side character books as well. There are currently bonus scenes from the male main character’s POV available on the author’s website, www.calliehart.com. Book two is expected to be released in October 2025.

Synopsis:

Do not touch the sword. Do not turn the key. Do not open the gate.

Twenty-four-year-old Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets. No one knows about the strange powers she possesses, or the fact that she has been picking pockets and stealing from the Undying Queen’s reservoirs for as long as she can remember. In the land of the unforgiving desert, there isn’t much a girl wouldn’t do for a glass of water. But a secret is like a knot. Sooner or later, it is bound to come undone.

When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares…but it turns out they’re real, and Saeris has landed right in the middle of a centuries-long conflict that might just get her killed.

The first of her kind to tread the frozen mountains of Yvelia in over a thousand years, Saeris mistakenly binds herself to Kingfisher, a handsome Fae warrior, who has secrets and nefarious agendas of his own. He will use her Alchemist’s magic to protect his people, no matter what it costs him… or her. Death has a name. It is Kingfisher of the Ajun Gate. His past is murky. His attitude stinks. And he’s the only way Saeris is going to make it home.

Be careful of the deals you make, dear child. The devil is in the details…

Synopsis:

Callypso Lillis is a siren with a very big problem, one that stretches up her arm and far into her past.

For the last seven years Callie has been wearing a bracelet of black beads up her wrist, magical IOUs for favors she once received. Only death or repayment will fulfill her obligations.

Everyone knows that if you need a favor, you go to the Bargainer to make it happen. He’s a man who can get you anything you want … at a price. And everyone knows that sooner or later he always collects. But for Callie, he’s never asked for repayment. Not until now.

When Callie finds the Bargainer in her room, a grin on his lips and a twinkle in his eye, she knows things are about to change. At first it’s admitting a truth—a single bead’s worth—acknowledging the attraction between them. But the Bargainer is after more than just rekindling their connection. Something is happening in the Otherworld. Fae warriors are going missing one by one, and only the women are returned, each in a glass casket, a child clutched to her breast.

For the Bargainer to save his people, he’ll need the help of the siren he spurned long ago. If she can forgive him.
