A Court of Thrones and Roses Books Ranked

I, like so many others, bought this book series because it was all over book tok. I kept seeing videos about different characters and was curious. I won’t write a review or synopsis about this series because it’s already been written about a million times in ways more coherent than I could do it myself.

However, I will say that when I started reading these books I wasn’t entirely impressed. The writing was a little lack-luster and repetitive. The story was kind of slow, but I had heard that already and wanted to push through. Plus, I personally can’t not finish a book once I start reading it.

About halfway through the first book, A Court of Thorns and Roses, I couldn’t put them down. I devoured all five of these books in less than a month and still cannot stop thinking about them. Instead of immediately reading them again (which I was tempted to do) I decided to follow the advice of book tok once again and cure this book hangover by reading another popular series by the author, Throne of Glass.

For those who don’t know already, the A Court of Thorns and Roses Series (or ACOTAR) is ongoing. There are currently five books. The reading order for these books is straightforward: A Court of Thorns and Roses, A Court of Mist and Fury, A Court Wings and Ruin, A Court of Frost and Starlight, and A court of Silver Flames.

For those who were as confused as I was when I started reading this series: the first three books were meant to bee a trilogy. These stories follow the main character Feyre and wrap-up nicely. The fourth book, A Court of Frost and Starlight, is a short novella. It continues to follow Feyre, but is more of a holiday special that acts as a stepping stone to the next book .The fifth book, A Court of Silver Flames, continues the the main story, but from the point of view of different characters.

Below is my personal ranking of the books from worst to best with no explanation .It’s ok to disagree!
