Children’s Book Review: Love Monster
Last week we took our oldest to Barnes & Noble to pick out his free book for their summer reading program. This program is an awesome way for children to practice their reading skills and earn a free book. If you don’t know about this program you can find more information about it here.
My youngest son cannot yet read. However, he enjoys being read to. So when we take our oldest to pick out his reward each year, my youngest also picks out a book.
This year he picked out a book with an adorable red monster on the cover. Simply because was his favorite color and he claims to like spooky things. I thought he would listen to it a few times and get bored with it, but it has become one of his favorite books. We have read it every single day since purchasing it.
Love Monster by Rachel Bright is an absolutely ADORABLE story about a monster who is trying to find love. The problem is, he lives in a town of super-cute-adorable creatures. He is the ugliest thing around. And no one could love an ugly, hair monster-right?
The Love Monster searches all over to find love until he finally gives up and decides to go home and live a lonely life in Cutesville. But, when he least expects it, love finds him.
I love everything about this book. From the writing, to the story, to the moral, and of course the illustrations!
It is a cute story about how anybody can find love.
The pictures are so pretty and vibrant and add to the story. With any children’s story that may not have many words, the pictures are crucial to help tell the story and these do not disappoint. Plus it’s easy to read! My oldest enjoys reading it to his younger brother (which is definitely a bonus).
I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a new story to read with their children.
If you enjoy this story be sure to check out other books by the same author. She has four more books featuring our beloved Love Monster!
